Devotional Message

Each day, we must discipline ourselves to keep our focus consistently on God—continuously, intentionally, and through devotion. When we make God the object of our attention throughout the day, we begin to develop an unshakeable stability and confidence in where we are in our journeys, our experiences, and what we are going through. When God is at our right hand, we place ourselves in a position of honor, strength, and protection and it is in that exact position that we feel at peace and safety.

For many, the moment one seeks God is typically at times of trouble. We pray, we cry, we seek help when it fully serves us. While it’s a beautiful practice, we must also focus on God not just in moments of defeat, but also through the ordinary moments of life. This develops the belief where whatever room we walk into, whatever conversation we find ourselves in, whatever new space we explore, we know that God is with us at all times.

When we feel God’s presence throughout each moment of our lives, the level of stability magnifies—even in unstable times, we feel grounded, held, and nurtured. And although we may feel shaken by the storms that are sent to us, we ourselves become unshakeable when we’re holding God’s hand through it.

By maintaining spiritual focus on Him, our daily response to challenges, pain, and suffering makes a complete shift. Rather than questioning why certain things are happening, we confidently walk alongside God who reveals to us the purpose of each moment. And when we trust that God is with us during the unstable times, we then realize He will still be holding our hands when He answers our deepest prayers.

Let’s Pray

Dear God, help me keep my eyes focused on you throughout the day, especially during moments that feel burdensome, challenging, or painful. I know you are always present, so today I will remain at your right hand—to experience the stability that you’ve promised when I am near you.

I confess that I have looked elsewhere to find security, but today I commit to placing my awareness on you so that your presence is my ultimate security. Teach me to seek you not only in times of trouble, but in every ordinary moment. Thank you for the promise that when I keep my eyes always on you, I can walk through any storm with unshakeable confidence. Amen.
